Rekhta Foundation is committed to preserve and promote the languages and literature of the Indian subcontinent. It began its operations with rekhta.org which is currently the world's largest website of Urdu literature. Its signature annual event 'Jashn-e-Rekhta' has been attracting an ever- increasing number of lovers of indigenous literature and culture. The phenomenal response that Rekhta Foundation has received in its attempts to bring Urdu back to its timeless glory inspired the launch of its Urdu learning website aamozish.com.
Rekhta Urdu Learning Guide is yet another step in the direction of taking Urdu to a wider community. This step- by-step guide makes the process of learning Urdu script an easy and enjoyable journey. Using clear instructions and hand-picked examples for quick learning of the written language, it also lays a firm base for spoken Urdu with enriching glossaries.
Established for the purpose of preserving and promoting Urdu language and its remarkable literature, Rekhta Foundation has come a long way since 2012. To fulfil the above aim, Rekhta embarked upon several projects one of which includes the publication of books. It is in this series that I am happy to present Rekhta Urdu Learning Guide, which would serve as an indispensable guide to those who would like to learn the Urdu script.
I am indebted to Professor Abdur Rasheed and Sumaira Nawaz for developing the contents of this book that would help learners take the first step towards learning this language and move ahead step by step. This comprehensive beginner's guide is for all those who share a love for Urdu and are eager to learn the language in its original script.
As I have been closely associated with the making of this special reader, I can, without any doubt, say that the authors have paid attention to minute aspects that would help the beginners learn this language A number of suitable items that distinguish this book from others of this kind comprise inclusion of useful notes, glossaries, and exercises at the end of every module Further, a learner would also benefit from the sections that teach contextual use of words, some key features and letter positions of Urdu. A unique feature of this book pertains to Rekhta a transliteration key table, which has long remained an unattended academic exercise.
