Foreword Research Methodology and Medical Statistics is an important tool to keep a check on the research projects undertaken in medical field. Ayurvedic principle and medicines should also be time tested and confirm by application of these tools. World wide acceptance to Ayurveda is only possible after sound research with the help of modern research techniques; hence knowledge of research and statistics is important to every research student.

I appreciate the efforts of Dr. Piyush Gupta, Dr. Sandeep Charak and Dr. Julee Mathur for writing a book on the "Basics of Research Methodology and Medical Statistics for Ayurveda Scholars" in accordance with the syllabus as prescribed by CCIM. The vast and complicated part of research and statistics is made easier and has been presented with ample illustrations and Ayurvedic example wherever possible. This book is beneficial to BAMS, M.D. (Ayu.), M. S. (Ayu.) students to understand the basics of research methodology and medical statistics.

Preface This book has been written on the basis of CCIM's syllabus of "Research Methodology and Medical Statistics" for Ayurvedic post-graduate research scholars. This book also cover BAMS 4th year syllabus of "Research Methodology and Statistics" guided by CCIM. We also provide 400+ objective questions for Ph.D. (Ayu.) entrance examination as well as 5 paper of previous Ph.D. entrance examinations and CCRS examination.

The book is written as the matter should not be more or less. This book is divided in three sections-

1. Research Methodology,

2. Medical statistics and

3. Objective question based on Research Methodology and Medical Statistics.

This book also contain appendix portion just after Research Methodology section, having some important notes of questions which are frequently asked in examinations.

At the end 2nd section (Medical Statistics), a few examination papers have been appended for the convenience of the I"t year M.D. scholars. We are open to all suggestions/ modification and correction for further improvement of this book. We welcome these suggestion as constructive criticism from scholars and teachers, that it is always needed and appreciated.
