This book mainly focuses on the critique of economic capitalism in the Roman Empire from the socio-rhetorical reading with the post-colonial lens. While dealing with the economic issues in Revelation 18, the research focuses not only of the economic, but also the socio-political dimensions that shaped the Roman Economy. Reading the book of Revelation from the apocalyptic eye and studying from the lens of socio- rhetorical approach gives us an insight and deeper understanding of the milieu of the context of Revelation vis-a-vis unjust Roman economy.

Rev. PC Nghaklianmawia's book "Roman Capitalism and Revelation is an upgraded version of his MTh Thesis guided by me in 2017-2019 at the United Theological College, Bangalore. He has been a very systematic researcher with a critical and reflective thinking framework which enables him to be a pioneer in the field of New Testament studies. I am delighted to state that he has developed skills in terms of becoming an excellent researcher in the field of New Testament. As we encounter new challenges and issues, it is important to have new sensible studies to reveal the basics of the Scripture and its meaning.
This book is a systematic and open-minded study of the book. of Revelation 18 from a post-colonial and political viewpoint. The author has brilliantly surveyed the origin and development of the book of Revelation and its place in the New Testament canon. Further, he explained the history of interpretation of the book of Revelation which could touch almost all areas of interpretation. In our context, the message of apocalyptic literature seems to be significant in the message can change the status quo as well as the oppressive structure of the imperial powers.
Therefore, it is important to explore and explain the theology of the book of Revelation for understanding the hegemonic dimensions of the imperial power and structures especially in terms of economic exploitation. I am sure this book will offer significant insights for developing a relevant hermeneutical principle for studying the New Testament books. I sincerely hope and pray that Rev. PC Nghaklianmawia will regularly contribute to the Indian Christian Biblical scholarship. With a real sense of passion I present this book.
