These are talks given by G. Aditya in the course of discussions, discourses and answering questions. They are addressed mostly to sadhaks practicing sadhana around Him and thus they deal with fundamental questions regarding the spiritual journey. His teachings have never been exclusive of life, indeed seeking a transformation rather than an escape, and here one finds pithy guidance not only on meditation, but on dealing with issues that arise in daily interactions and activities. The correct attitudes and practices to keep the sadhak progressing despite the numerous pitfalls in each individual's journey is explained variously - with humour and depth. Indeed, there are lessons for us all. These satsangs have been recorded live and transcribed by the sadhaks. A minimal amount of editing has been done to ensure readability.
G. Aditya has been resident in Uttarkashi Valley, Himalayas, since 1985, immersed in sadhana. A lover of solitude and the forests that surrounded His simple kutir, his life became public when seekers began gathering around him for guidance in their spiritual pursuit. Thus Arya Vihar Ashram was established in 1994 as a Rishi Kulam, a spiritual community where sadhaks could live in His presence and dedicate themselves to the long, integrated and transforming process of sadhana with the realisation of the Divine to be lived in life a life Divine.
The large sunflower in the centre depicts the Teacher, the Giver of wisdom. The surrounding field of sunflowers depicts aspirants of the spiritual journey, growing, absorbing and learning from the central flower. With early morning filling the sky, and the sun shedding its luminous lustre on the scene, the entire picture is a symbolic representation of the pursuit of divine perfection under the benign glow of an ever-present Grace. The bird is the embodied soul in its flight to the Supreme Light.
Perhaps it is only the spiritual aspirant who has begun walking the path in earnest, that can truly appreciate the doubts, the despondency, the struggles, and the pitfalls on this Journey of journeys. When desires compel, when fixed behaviour patterns pressurize, most aspirants have faced the difficulty of discriminating and observing the treacherous justifications of the mind; most know through experience how deviously one's mind can mislead. Possibly, no one has escaped being disheartened by the sheer repetitive, persistent force of ignorance, at some point.
He can send his grace in a thousand different ways; sometimes it is direct. Such have been the teachings and guidance of our Master, gathered to a certain extent in this volume. These messages of Truth are a radiant beacon, illuminating our way; a staff, and an inspiration. These words are fire and refuge, storm and sunshine, in our hearts and minds. Above all, they are a source of profound joy.
We are introducing them to a wider public knowing that they will bring a ray of light, a touch of grace, upon the reader.
