Thakur Jaideva Singh was a unique personality, not only a visionary scholar of music and philosophy (specially Kashmir Saivism), but a multifaceted and versatile scholar. He established and contributed immensely to the holistic vision of knowledge combining philosophy and music. philosophy of music & philosophy in music' in it's minutest details. He meticulously adhered to the polemics of sangita sastra based on profound Sanskrit texts of Indian music. As a Sanskritist and philosopher, he could codify and define every theorotical aspect of music with erudition. As a visionary thinker he explored almost all the areas of music. His writings and lectures are a multi- layered assortment on several issues of music, that can be catagorized as follows:

History and Development

He also examines the musical scenario of the present era and the sematic problems and confusion that has enshrouded us. He goes into the history to identify the multifarious value-concepts that need reassessment and further research as a new challenge to interpreting music knowledge.

His works focus on tradition, categorising the history of music and its developement-past and present, the state of music during the last fifty years and its growth, the history of music of Uttar Pradesh, the concert platforms (sabha) and chamber music (sangita-gosthi), music and dance, reviewing music in the light of the present cultural context, music of Natya sastra and the new trends of Indian music.
