We have already published fourteen volumes in the Sarabhendra Vaidya Muraigal Series, each containing collection of tested prescriptions for many ailments and diseases including Diabetes. The present work is yet another publication in the series, containing tested prescriptions for "PITHA ROGAS". The term PITHA is often attributed to bilious disorder. According to Ayurvedic conception there are five kinds of PITHAS which fall under two groups 1. VYAKTA PITHA (visible), 2. GOODHA PITHA (invisible). So Bile a visible liquid falls under the category of Vyakta Pitha. The Editors Dr. V. G. Chandran and Dr. Nalini Chandran have done a thorough and excellent job of their work especially in their exposition of the different kinds of PITHAS, their respective functions and their relative glandular secretions according to the Westem system, thus making the introduction a regular thesis on the subject. The relevant tabular columns which they have prepared with great pains reveal a thorough and careful study of both systems of Ayurveda and allopathy. They have also given the substitutes for some of the rare drugs which are not available now. We are grateful to the learned Editors for the very useful work they have done. We have no doubt that their achievement will be found useful by physicians as well as the lay public. We express our deep gratitude to the Union Government and to the Government of Madras for their timely grants that have helped us to publish this another precious manuscripts in our Library.
