Preface The present monograph is the result of Sri P.V. Parabrahma Sastry's individual effort in copying, deciphering and preparing the historical note on each epigraph included in this collection. I feel that this publication of about thirty epigraphs representing some of the ruling families of Andhra Pradesh beginning from the early Vaidumbas would be much useful for those working in the field of epigraphical researches of the medieval history of the Telugu country. I express my sincere thanks to Dr. Gai, Chief Superintending Epigraphist, Archaeological Survey of India, Mysore, who in spite of his multifarious activities obliged my request and edited this book.

Introduction During the last two years I copied a number of inscriptions from various districts of Andhra Pradesh. In the present monograph I have taken up 35 inscriptions for my study. Besides a brief note in English on each of these epigraphs, a general introductory note is added here, which gives details regarding the historical significance of the particular records of different dynasties. In calculating equivalent dates in Christian calendar for Šaka years I have made use of the ephemeris of late Sri L. D. Swamy Kannu Pillai. The inscriptions of each dynasty are dealt with separately.
