Self Healing is a handbook to help readers attain a state a state of physical mental and spiritual well-being through proper diet, suitable exercise and a natural lifestyle. The author describes in detail the nutritive value of various foods and their benefits, covering almost every disease, every food and every nutrient.
The book offers wholesome yet simplistic solutions towards attaining holistic health. As the author says:
‘You do not have to work hard. Just make the right choice. Provide yourself with the right food, right exercise, right thoughts and right resolve to be happy and healthy.’
Dr CP Arora is a former dean, head of the department and professor at IIT. He suffered from a massive heart attack fourteen years ago in 1197 after which he went through a phase of self-healing. This book is the outcome of the experience and of his desire to advise on not just physical, mental and spiritual health but also to encourage the reader to go through the process of self-discovery. Dr Arora has also published a book titled Learn, Think and predict through Astrology.
Plato held that the most skillful physician, rather than being a model of good health, is one who has suffered from all sorts of illnesses.
I do not claim any authority on the subject, nor do I consider myself competent to write a book of this kind. The only claim to eligibility in undertaking such a venture has been the fact that I have had numerous health problems myself, right from birth.
Illnesses are divine messengers. They bring experiences and knowledge we could not have achieved otherwise. In the process of researching and trying out various remedies, sometimes in the course of helping others to heal. I discovered various important aspects of health and happiness for the body, mind and spirit.
I consider it my duty to bring this to every man and woman to enable them to live a long life, free of ailments and suffering. The readers are advised not to follow the recommendations blindly, but to practice discretion and draw their own self-healings plans.
It is a comprehensive book, and I have tried to cover all aspects related to food, nutrition, lifestyle and other areas which can affect our physical, mental and spiritual well-being. It is written in English, but Hindi/Indian names (of herbs, spices, etc.) have been used liberally with which the Indian reader is generally conversant.
I sincerely hope that the reader is able to benefit from this book.
