India is a birth place of many schools of philosophy and religion. So, the great seers and thinkers of India have contributed their best for the development of philosophy and religion in all their facets.
The book on hand is a lucid compendium of the six schools and Indian Philosophy. It is stated in the book itself that at the behest of the King Shahhaji the scholars of his court have compiled this work. This work is very useful for the scholars and laymen as well to know about the six schools of Indian Philosophy namely, Nyaya (Gautama School of Indian Logic), Vaiseshika (Kanada school of Indian Logic), Mimamsa (Bhatta and Prabhakara School of the Philosophy of Sacrifices), Sankhya (Kapila School of the Philosophy of the creation of the world), Yoga (Patanjali School of the Philosophy of meditation) and Vedanta (Badarayana School of the Philosophy of the Knowledge of the self). Vyakarana (Paniniyan system of Sanskrit Grammar) also finds a place here.
