September 2060. The campus is bustling with is excitement everywhere. Graduating from the world's best art college is indeed a matter of pride, for both the students as well as their parents. It is the only college on this planet that accepts students based on sponsorship alone. Backed financially by the greatest names in the field of art, this college is a dream that only a hundred students get to live every year.
The course offered here is so complex that no other college in the world has been able to replicate it. They have zero franchises and allow zero admissions through influence. Even presidents cannot use their signatures to get their own kids into this institution. There are five rigorous rounds of interviews that have been designed specifically for this institute by their faculty, who have been hand-picked from around the globe. The entire curriculum is for five years and has been woven with only two threads - Art and Sculpture. The college ensures that it only accepts students that do not wish to deviate from art and sculpture for the rest of their lives. It is only with this commitment and dedication that a student can successfully graduate from Nalanda University the world's best college for Arts.
I had wanted to be an artist from the day I got a golden star for drawing the most common scenic view there is, on paper when I had only been five years old. It had the exact same elements as everyone else's - brown mountains, the sun rising over the valley, a river flowing toward the green grassland, with a small hut on the side. It happened during an art class in school; and while thousands of other students around the world would have drawn the same picture in their art class that day, this drawing that I had gotten a golden star for, had decided what I would do for the rest of my life!
I was always a focused child. It had not been very hard for me to pass through my school years with good grades while also putting in massive efforts to improve my art. Everyone said that I was born talented although, I had never really known any members of my family who could draw. Dad's side of the family were scientists, so maybe they drew a lot of physics and biology pictures. I've never really met my mother's side; she said that her parents had passed away long before I was born and that she didn't have any siblings. My mother is a very focused corporate woman - she did her engineering and then moved into the corporate world - so I really can't imagine her being artistic. In fact, even during my childhood, she would never help me with my drawings; it was always Dad who would have managed to put something on my projects. I think that was my biggest motivation to learn - I needed my projects to look good!
