The prime issue to be addressed in communication is that it should deal with the present. Every communication quickly merges into the past and serves to shape the future. The irony of human destiny is that this aspect of communication i.e. it should deal with the present is not getting the attention it deserves.
The problem of the present-day communication is to determine whether the communicator is neutral on the subject. When one leaves the present and thinks of the past or the future, it leads to a series of problems. People get caught in a web of their own thoughts. All of us are guided by our thoughts and our intellect starts ruling us, instead of us ruling it.
Thanks to the mass media, our generation treats communication solely at the level of entertainment and information. Communication concerns the entire human race. It cannot be, and should not be, trivialised. We look into the core of our hearts, analyze the message at that level and involve ourselves in every form of communication.
This volume attempts to look at communication from a holistic point of view. Communication is basic to all creatures and is part of the eternal process of the evolution of the species.
It takes a broad sweep at all aspects of the art of communication, not just oral, aural and visual. In that broad spectrum, the most vital and lasting communication is that which takes place between souls. Minds and hearts come next. It is sad to see that modern mass media indulge in a type of communication, which is neither ideal nor effective. It cannot even be called communication.
