Satpal Maharaj is an avid reader of scientific research and development. He believes that both science and spirituality are related to man's quest to overcome nescience and hence essential for human development and progress. Spirituality is more direct and absolute - while other sciences fall within the realm of Apara knowledge. If science is a field of corroborating facts collected through experiments, spirituality is a practical science of Consciousness the empirical Truth. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says that Spiritual Knowledge is Sovereign Science, being fundamental, absolute and the ultimate knowing which nothing else remains to be known.

Science is a discipline of making inquiry into this world. Scientific knowledge is always in a state of flux. New scientific theories come along and overthrow long-held hypothesis. Today, modern science is working hard to figure out what 95% of the universe is made up of! Atoms about which we have heard so much account for a measly 5%. Dark matter or dark energy is how we account the X factor of 95%. More is unknown about the dark energy than what is known to the world of science. Dark matter is not dark in appearance; it is dark, meaning that it is not gross like the stars and planets. Observations show that there is far too little visible matter in what constitutes the Universe we know! Our scriptures called it as Adi Shakti or Akshar Brahm the eternal Power that is sustaining everything from the subtle energy wave to the colossal planets or the supernova explosions in the universe.
