I am happy to state that the Department is bringing ont this booklet on the occasion of Godavari Pushkarams - 2003.

The premises having the residential buildings of Sri Kandukuri Viresalingam Panthulu garu and Smt. Rajya Lakshmi has been declared as a protected monument by the Department of Archaeology & Museums in the year 1990. This Department has started a research centre here in the year 2000 for the benefit of students and scholars. In this centre, we are having a very good library with a rare collection of books. I therefore take this opportunity to invite the research scholars, particularly in the filed of Telugu literature, to make use of this centre.

This booklet in brief, will throw a light on some of the important events in the life of Kandukuri Viresalingam Panthulu, who was a great social reformer, a revolutionary and a scholar.

I congratulate Dr. B. Subrahmanyam, A.D. (Museums) and Dr. E. Siva Nagi Reddy, Draughtsman (Exc.) for their efforts in bringing out this booklet. I also thank Mr. Mohd. Mustafa and Mr. Syed Habeebuddin for typing the manuscript very neatly. I also thank the printers, M/s. Sri Sai Process, Hyderabad for bringing out this booklet nicely within a short time.
