Sri Vedantha Desikar has written three great compositions related to Sri Rama and Ramayana. Of course there are other works wherein stray references have been made to the Lord Sri Rama. The three works under reference are - Sri Mahaaveera Vaibhava, Sri Abhayapradhaanasaara and Sri Paadhukaa Sahasram. Sri Mahaveera Vaibhava also known as "Sri Raghuveera Gadyam" is the only prose composition of Sri Vedantha Desikar which encompasses the entire gamut of Srimad Ramayana. Abhayapradhaanasaara comes under the category of Chillarei Rahasyangal and is based on "Vibheeshana Sharanaagathi" in Yuddhakaanda. Paadhukaa Sahasram is a mahaakaavya glorifying the twin sandals of Sri Rama which He parted with when Bharatha insisted that Sri Rama will be ruling Ayodhya through His paadhukaas 1008 slokas 'created' in a single night!
While we will be seeing Sri Raghuveera Gadhya in detail, comparing wherever necessary with Srimad Ramayana, we shall make synoptic studies with selected texts of the other two viz Abhayapradhaanasaara and Paadhukaa Sahasram in such a way that Sri Rama's loftiness is fully reflected.
Adiyen had the good fortune of writing books on Sri Paadhukaa Sahasram (both in English and Kannada) and Abhayapradhaanasaaram, with moolam in Tamil, Kannada and English with full meanings in English.
I do hope that the present presentation will be found interesting. Sri Vedantha Desikar declares that his works, covered here, are as holy as Srimad Ramayana itself. Hence this book has extraordinary value to the reader to earn Sri Rama's grace.
