Mahabharata, Rāmāyaṇa and Bhagavata have influenced Indian thought and culture for several millenia. The lessons delivered from the events and the characters described in this trinity still guide the conduct and the behaviour of our country men.
The philosophical and theological import of these great works are brought out by a series of commentaries. Śrī Madhvacharya has written a brief commentary viz., Bhāgavatatātparyanirṇaya explaining the crucial philosophical and theological terms.
The glory of Visnu and His incarnations form the central theme of Bhāgavata. All major incarnations of Visnu and the episodes relating to major Bhaktas of Visnu viz. Pralhada, Dhruva etc. are dealt with. Two important theological concepts viz., Bhakti and Vairagya are described through many episodes and events. Suddha Bhāgavata dharma is the central message.
The commentaries of Sri Yadavārya, Śrī Vijayadhvaja tirtha, Śrī Satyadharma, Śri Vyasatatvajña, Śrī Śrinivasatirtha, Śri Chetty and Śrī Lingeri bring out the theme and the message of Bhagavata fully. Dvaita Vedanta Foundation has decided to produce critical editions of these commentaries. This volume consists of first skandha with Śri Yadavārya and Sri Vijayadhvajatirtha's commentaries.
Sri Krishnacharya Upadhyaya and Sri Vadirajacharya have assisted to edit this volume. We hope Research Scholars and Students will benefit by this.
