My Note

A promise is a serious matter. And I found myself making that without any trepidation when Sadhvi Nidhi and Sadhvi Kripa Shree placed the honor and privilege upon me to translate a New book on the Jain concept of the journey of the soul, written in Hindi for children and young adults. God knows how many times I have wanted to write seriously and especially for children, but there were always a host of things that came in the way. Living overseas in California, feeling constantly stressed out and rushed, I found it difficult to set aside sufficient time and put pen down to paper. Little did I know the sheer joy and peace and quietness that came from leaving the external world and coming home to myself and to the ‘moment’.

I thought it would be challenging to translate from Hindi, my native language (which I must admit I do not have a great command of and also little opportunity or inclination to read); but as I began reading Sadhviji’s writings, I was fascinated! I wanted to know more and understand the meaning in the vernacular and thank God for Google and its amazing options for Hindi to English word translations. My sister Nandita, was also an invaluable resource for me throughout this process. It was her faith and confidence in my abilities as designated translator that got me involved with this book.

Suddenly, I found myself totally engrossed and trying to unravel the mysteries of the journey of my soul. As I traveled through the ‘four stations’, I began to learn and comprehend the amazing journey my soul has made through infinite cycles of birth and death. So many questions that would often creep up in the silence of the night have been answered through this process. I can only imagine how profound the impact will be on a child’s mind - the solid foundation it will offer for the evolution of that young being and the true understanding and desire for additional spiritual learning with the passage of time.

I am honored to have been a part of this book that contains the most fundamental wisdom that will benefit people across the globe of all age groups and help them achieve greater awareness of how to steer their soul’s journey towards the ultimate goal of ‘moksha.’
