A dictionary of a growing and ever changing discipline like anthropology has high demands. Since it is an overlapping study with bridges into the physical, biological and social sciences and into the humanitices as well, it plays a crucial role in the integration of the human sciences.
There has been considerable interest in anthropology, Particularly in the last few decades, with the belief that it has an answer to many of our questions social and political. Thus, in recent times it has not remained just a subject which deals with the past life of man and various facets of his culture but has emerged as a trouble – shooter for many of our contemporary problems.
This collection of such terminologies attempts to initiate only the newcomer to anthropological literature. However, no claim for its exhaustiveness can be made, since this book welcomes only the laymen and those young and aspiring group of readers who are on the threshold stepping into the world of anthropology.
A post – grauate with a gold medal in Anthropology from Utkal University, Orissa, Ram narayan Das acquired an M.Phil in Population Studies from Jawaharlal Nahru University, New Delhi.
A regular contributor of research papers to national seminars and journals, Das has handled research projects sponsored by several international agencies, including the World Bank and the British Council Division, having done commendable work in the tribal regions of Orissa.
