Stree-roga a part of Koumarabhritya, one of the Ashtangas of Ayurveda is an important clinical subject which deals about half of the population, the women. Their normal and abnormal conditions, prevention of diseases, coping with adverse effects of physiological states i.e. menopause.
If woman is healthy the family feels secure; if woman is healthy the future generation will be born and brought up with boosted energies.
This book "Samagra Streeroga Vijnana" is written as per the C.C.! M. syllabus and deals with physiological aspects of genital system as Artava vijnana , Shukra vijnana etc, and pathological conditions like Yoni-vyapad, Artava-yapad, Vandhyatva, Stana-roga, Arbuda etc. It also describes different treatment aspects specific for each disease and in general, local treatment and surgical treatment.
The work of Dr. V. N. K Usha is commendable as she compiled the original concepts of Samhitas and tried to interpret with contemporary science for better understanding and practical purposes like utilizing modern investigations for proper diagnosis and treatment.
I appreciate her understanding of the subject and laborious efforts to bring this book out which will surely benefit the undergraduates, post graduates, teachers, research scholars and practitioners of Stree-roga.
I wish many more publications in future from her in-depth knowledge in the subject.
