About the Author The Author Dr. U.Vaidyanatha Sivachariyar M.Phil. P.hD, who serving the Lord Swaminatha Swami with complete devotion, dedication and deference since 1993, is a Chief Priest in Swaminatha Swami Malai Mandir, RK Puram, New Delhi. He has a PhD., Degree in Sanskrit from Central University, Puducherry, A Shaiva Agama Scholar, he has led from the front and has been conducting major temple festivals every year and also the once in 12-year Kumbhabishekam, twice. He has also led from the front and conducted a number of major festivals in other temples in Delhi. Parallelly, he has been teaching students in Krishna Yajur Vedam Chanting since last 27 years benefiting 350 students both youngsters and elders. This book Subrahmanya Ratnakarala is a result of his two decades of research on Lord Swaminatha Swami. Currently he is writing a book Sarvaghanotharam in Sanskrit and English, on Shaiva Agama Shastra based on his research from rare original manuscripts. Despite his high academic, religious and research credentials, he leads a very simple life following his Kula Dharma.

Foreword Dr. U. Vaidyanatha Sivacarya, an ardent devotee of Lord Subrahmanya and the chief priest of the Shanmukha temple of Uttara Swami malai at New Delhi Has made a wonderful collection of Samskrit passages from the Vedas, Agamas, Tantras, Ithihasas, Puranas, Upapuranas and Kavyas dealing with the different aspects of Lord Subrahmanya. These passages clearly speak about Lord Subrahmanya: viz, His different incarnations, His truthful reality (tatvam), His various names along with the reasons. His sportive exploits (Lilavinodhams) His greatness etc.. The intention of the author is to make available and easily accessible at one place, all the details about the Lord scattered at different places as said above. This is, perhaps, to facilitate the devotees who are very much eager to know about the Lord. The collection is aptly named as Subrahmanya Vangmaya Ratnakaraha i.e a source that speaks all about Lord Subrahmanya.

Introduction Adi Shankara or Shankaracharya, the propounder of the Advaita philosophy, in order to help the human beings realise the Brahman the Supreme Soul (abstract) devised a concrete step of idol worshipping which is divided into six, namely Ganapati, Surya, Shiva, Vishnu, Durga or Shakti and Subrahmanya, whom one can worship according to one's own taste or choice. Steady persuit of anyone of these will enable one to attain salvation.
