Ibn Majah was celebrated Hafiz of the Qur'an and is known as the compiler of the Kitab-us-Sunan or "The Book of Traditions". Sunan Ibn Majah is counted as one of the Six Sahihs or authentic Collections of Hadith. Mr. Muhammad Tufail Ansari, the learned translator of this compilation, has command over as well as English. This English translation of Sunan Ibn Majah is, therefore, very authentic. The reader will definitely like it. Every Muslim must know the minute details of Faith, purification and prayer. This is achieved through strict adherence to Sunna and "The Sunan Ibn Majah" servers this purpose to the satisfaction of the readers. The author, Mohammad Tufail Ansari has presented the translation into the simple and effective. English to express the true spirit of Sunna.
The work of translating a book from one language into another language is an uphill task and translating the sayings of the Arabian Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) who enjoys the divine title of Afsah, the most skilful in using correct, precise and eloquent literary language, and who has been endowed with Jawami' ul-Kalam, comprehensive and lucid words, is still much more difficult. One must have a command over the Arabic and English languages and must possess the capability of appreciating the usages and the elegant style of Arabic language at the least. The translator of hadith should also have an extensive as well as an intensive insight in the vast treasure of hadith literature and, above all, must have imbibed the conceptions and practices of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in his life. In view of the recognition of the fact that I lack all these fundamental pre-quisites, I expressed my incapability of producing the English version of Sunan Ibn Maja. But, despite my frank confession of my incapabilities and weaknesses, whenever I met Muhammad Ikram Siddiqi, he vigorously stimulated me by one way or the other to take in hand the project for the service of Islam and humanity. He ceaselessly tried to build in the confidence essential for this great task. It was due to his persistent persuasion and encouragement that one day I had to surrender myself to his noble wishes, and in the name of Allah the Almighty, I started to work over it. During this course, I always prayed to Allah to confer upon me His guidance and succour for the accomplishment of the project. I feel immense pleasure to present, by the grace of Allah, the English version of Vol. 5 of Sunan Ibn Maja, which comprises seven important topics: Kitab-ul-Tib (Book of Medical Science) Kitäb-ul-Libas (Book of Clothing) Kitab-ul-Adab (Book of Etiquettes) Kitab-ud-Du'a (Book of Supplication) Kitab-ul-Fitan (Book of Turmoils) Kitab-uz-Zuhd (Book of Piety).**Contents and Sample Pages**
