Desire to evolve further and make progress is deeply ingrained in human psyche. For a human being, spiritual progress is not less important than that of the materialistic fronts of life. This Self evolution leads to an extraordinary rise in human dignity and esteem. A balanced progress in both spiritual and worldly domains must presently be regarded as the best approach to life. This is not easy because everyone around does not seem to bother about human ideals and the path seems hard, deserted and lonely. To undertake any important activity it is necessary to make proper preparations and seek guidance from those who have undertaken such an activity earlier. The same principle applies in spirituality as well. So, stepping and then continuing on the path of self-evolution is impossible without the grace, love and guidance of an adept master or a Guru.
The concept of Guru is a cornerstone in spirituality - the science of holistic evolution of consciousness. In this book, the concept of Guru has been explained in detail. The responsibility of a Guru and the duties of a disciple are highlighted. Questions on having multiple Gurus are answered. The book discusses the essential qualities of an ideal Guru, importance of faith in spiritual domain, and highlights how the support of a noble Guru to a worthy disciple leads to quick progress on the path of self-evolution. The book also describes two important concepts in spiritual domain-the process of initiation on the path of spiritual evolution through a Guru Deeksha and the choice of Isbta or focus of devotion.
Pandit Acharya Shriram Sharma (1911-1990) was said to be the simplest of men. Throughout his life he owned only two sets of clothes. He began every day with a pad of paper and a ball point pen. And his spiritual practice, throughout his life, was the recitation of a single mantra.
And yet, wherever he went, he sowed seeds that would grow into a mighty movement. Upon the basis of his simplicity was established the integrity of a movement that would renounce the addictions of modern life. With his pen and paper, he wrote discourses on every aspect of human culture and well being that would be translated into 13 languages. And by means of his mantra recitation, he laid the energetic foundation for a new human culture based on the practices and wisdom of ancestral India.
In his own time, he was revered as a visionary, a prophet and a world reforming saint.
