The students of surgery have to gather information from different textbooks of surgery and homoeopathic therapeutics. That means they have to refer to several literatures to collect the relevant information. Thus, the main aim of this book is to bring all the relevant and pertinent information in a single volume. This book fulfils the demands of the students and serves as a handy reference guide to the practitioners. Considering the requirements of homeopathy in surgical conditions, the topics have been selected and described in proportional details. The topics in this book provide material in a scientific and systematic way as is expected in a book of this kind.
This book compiles more than 30 major surgical conditions ranging from abscess to wounds, hernia to renal stones etc. with their proper homoeopathic management.
Dr Shrikant Kulkarni, is the Dean of the Homoeopathic Medical College, Solapur and the Chief Medical Officer at the Homoepathic Hospital, Solapur, India.
There are various methods adopted to study the Homoeopathic subjects by different personalities. Here I am deliberately using the word ‘Homoeopathic Subjects’ since Homoeopathy’ itself has a great depth. As we study the subjects each time we have a different angle in front of us, we think over these facts and use our best skill to select the similimum for the patients.
Dr. Sammuel Hahnemann and his co-workers have made the foundation of Homoeopathy logically, scientifically and theoretically firm, where every word has its own meaning and its own significance. To remember these things, these observations, especially the symptoms of various drugs in Materia Medica, is beyond the capacity of human brain.
To put it in rather simplified way I tried to write this book on Surgery therapeutics. I have covered the most general surgical conditions we come across in our day to day practice. While selecting the similimum for a given case we consider from generals to particulars or from particulars to generals as described by Dr. Hahnemann. Thus the general symptoms of the particular condition have been described followed by the general symptoms of that drug. The concomitant symptoms are also mentioned with peculiar modalities of the drug. So we shall have locations, sensations concomitant symptoms along with the modalities. In short, now, we have a complete information, that is nothing but the "Totality of symptoms". And from totality of symptoms we can best select the similimum for the given case.
There is no specificity or the specific drug for a particular condition in Homoeopathic method of treatment as we believe in individualisation. Still, for my students this book shall be the ready-made material, which will make them to easily understand the subject ‘Surgery therapeutics’ and they will have the idea of how to study the various surgical conditions and prepare and represent them in examinations.
I also hope that this book shall be equally useful to busy Homoeopathic practitioners to quickly select the drug for their patients.
Where the action of medicine ends, surgery begins. In fact surgery has a great role in treating the sick persons. Still, we the Homoeopathic physicians try our level best to avoid surgical procedures. My beloved teacher Dr. V.R. Chitale has taught me surgery and has given me the opportunity of comparative study by treating the cases surgically as well as by Homoeopathic medicines. His proper guidance and effective methods of teaching enabled me to complete this book.
With these few words I hand over this book to my colleagues, my friends and my students who are obligated to treat the sick persons and serve of the diseased human beings.
I shall be very much pleased and it shall be the best prize for my efforts put in this book, if it is found useful by students of the Homoeopathic medical colleges and my co-workers, the Homoeopathic physicians.
