Vedanta is so powerful and all pervasive a philosophy that it cuts across linguistic barriers and has left its deep impress upon every singly regional language of this country. Dogri is no exception, and in the work of Swami Brahmanand Tirth we find the great doctrines of Vedanta presented in terms that can easily be understood by the common people. Indeed Swami Brahmanand is in the illustrious tradition of those saints who, in almost every part of our country, have presented in the language of the people the great ideas enshrined in our scriptures.
Swami brahmanand Tirth, formerly Sansar Singh, is not known well enough outside the Dogri-speaking areas and even among the Dogra intelligentsia there is not an adequate appreciation of his important contribution to Indian literature. Sri J.C. Sathe, whose family was closely associated with Swamiji, has rendered valuable service by presenting the life and teachings of this great Dogra poet to a wider audience.
