The present work is an edition of unpublished manuscript "Siddhanjanam" written by Annam Bhatta of 17th century. It is a sub-commentary of 'Aloka' of Jayadeva (Pakshadhara) Mishra on "Tattvachintamani a nyaya text authored by Gangesha Upadhyaya of 13th century.

The work thoroughly discusses various aspects of "Mangalavada' which is a sub section of 'Pratyaksha Khanda' of 'Tattvachintamani. Here, Annam Bhatta, by undertaking an objective analysis of the various arguments advanced by the earlier scholars, like Pakshadhara, Narahari, Ruchidatta, Mahesha, Madhu sudana, establishes the theory/ argument as most acceptable based on the merit of the respective argument, without any bias whatsoever.

The utility of the book is further enhanced by the addition of the original text of 'Tattvachintamani' and 'Aloka' commentary for the convenience of the readers; along with a brief introduction, notes and indices.

Dr.Inaganti Umarama Rao was born in the village Tyajampudi (Kovvur), West Godavari Dist. of Andhra Pradesh. His mother is Suryaprakasamma, and father Sitaramamarkandeya Sarma. He had his traditional studies in Andhragirvana Vidyapeetham (Kovvur) and Shree Gorantla Venkanna Vidyapeetham (Timma- samu dram) and his Nyaya and Alankara sastra gurus are his father and others Bokka Veerabhadra Sastri, Rama chandrula Koteswar Sarma, Dorbala Prabhakar Sarma and Durbha Shree ramachandra Murthy. He got degrees - Nyaya- vidyapraveena and M.A.( Alankara Sastra) from Andhra Univer sity, A.Vidwan from Sree Venkateswar University, Tirupati. He has more than 36 years experience in teaching Nyaya sastra. Presently he is translating 'Vishnudharmo- tarapuranam under TTD Puranetihasa Project.
