He completed his post- graduation studies from Shri J.G. Co-operative Hospital Society's Ayurvedic Medical College Ghataprabha, Dist. Belgaum Karnataka.
Author has more than 10 years of teaching experience and has good theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject. His published works like Bhavaprakash Nighantu (Authentic text with English translation and notes) and text book of Dravyaguna Vijnana Volume I is well appreciated and expected by BAMS (Undergraduates), Postgraduates, Academicians, Researchers & Ayurvedic practitioners.
Dravyaguna which is more commonly used for the study of Dravyas (Drugs). It composed of two words Dravya and Guna. Dravya means substance and guņa means properties and uses. Dravyaguna vijñāna is studied mainly under three divisions Nămarupa vijñāna, Guņa karma vijñāna and Prayoga vijñāna here in this work all these features are covered.
Everybody pay attention towards Ayurveda specifically Dravyaguņa for providing a whole some living to maintain health and illness free life. In these circumstances the responsibilities of Ayurveda scholars are to go for detailed study of monograph and bring out the best to manage the requirements of the community as Ayurveda is practical science.
This book Dravya guna vijñāna Vol-II is designed asper the syllabus of Dravyaguna subject II year BAMS degree as prescribed by NCISM (National commission of Indian system of medicine). This book is written strictly according to the syllabus. This book is special or distinctive of its nature, used very simple English language by assembling various aspects following different good texts written by various scholars in different language and make every effort to give correct particulars about every drug from syllabus.
For proper information of drugs, the references are given from Brihattrayi, Dhanwantari Nighantu, Raj Nighantu, Kaiyadeva Nighantu, Bhāva Prakiša Nighantu etc.
Paryayanama (Synonyms) are arranged as per drug Nomenclature which helps the students to remember them and identify medicinal plant properly. Equal importance is given to Morphological identification and Ayurvedic perspective of every plant.
This work highlights therapeutic uses in various diseases which will stimulate interest among students, scholars and practitioners. This allows them to choose proper medicinal plant in given medical condition.
Adulterants and substitute are clearly mentioned which helps in identification of exact plant species and overcomes controversy. Research updates helps Under graduate and Post graduate scholars to take use from previous works and look for new path in research field.
Hand drawn pictures of all 97 drugs are included for better understanding of study of drugs and helps in field visit to identify the plant species. Multiple choice questions (MCQ) are included which helps to students to get prepared immediately for final examinations and post graduate entrance study.
