Some exclusive modern topics like pharmacology was introduced in this volume, because the allocation of 30 marks in Paper 1-Part B.
The available books on Dravyaguna subject are not included few topics and Modern pharmacology. In this work I tried my level best to give a brief knowledge of Dravyaguna basics and Modern pharmacology in very simple English, so that readers can understand well.
Dr.Polepalli.Mallikarjuna rao, is an Academician, Clinician and Author in Ayurveda. He is the son of Sri Polepalli Sambasivudu and Sri Polepalli Varalakshmi, born on 27-08-1981, Giddalur Mandal, Parkasham District, Andhrapradesh. Dr. Mallikarjuna Rao Completed Graduation from Dr. N.R.S. Govt. Ayurveda College, Vijayawada, (A.P.) during 2000-2005. Post graduation from Dr.B.R.K.R Govt Ayurveda College, Hyderabad during 2006-2009.

This work is of very unique of its kind, in this work we collected relevant references from samhitas and explained in a very simple language, especially the chapter Karma vijnanam was delineated in a brief manner to understand the mode of action in an ayurvedic perspective.
Concepts like Anupanaa, Dose determination, Oushada prayoga vijnanam, prescription writing, viruddahara combinations etc are principally explained with suitable examples. Including the modern pharmacology in a very brief manner is highlights of this work, knowledge about excipients, additives, preservatives, adulterants, substitutes and extracting methods are provided in the interest of practical aspect Dravayaguna subject. The writing style of this work is strictly according to the syllabus; I request readers not to measure this work exclusively by the scales of ancient acaryas, all the basic concepts are lucidly explained with the help of tables wherever needed in very simple English.
All the Sanskrit terms are taken italic font for the benefit of readers etc all are few highlights of this work and I am sure that the book Dravyaguna Vigyan volume 1, will helps 2nd profession B.A.M.S students, they need not refer any other book for final exam preparation also helpful for BAMS graduates, Post graduate students of Dravyaguna subject, research scholars and ayurvedic practitioners.
