Presented book 'the textbook of Agadtantra (Ayurveda and modern toxicology)' is according to the newly revised syllabus for the subject Agad tantra by NCISM, New Delhi. It has been described in detail according to both Ayurveda and modern medical science. For better understanding the book has been designed with various figures, charts, coloured pictures.

Dr. Sharad Porte is working on the post of Professor in PG department of Agad Tantra and Vidhi Vaidyak and also as In Charge of Cancer consultation and treatment unit, National Institute of Ayurveda (Deemed to be university), Jaipur, Rajasthan. He did his BAMS from Govt. Ayurveda college, Nagpur, Maharashtra and Post-graduation in Agad tantra from Shri Ayurveda mahavidyalaya, Nagpur, Maharashta.

The Author of this book is teaching the subject for last 17 years and also has been guide to many post graduate scholars. He has worked as Asst prof in Shri Gurudev Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Gurukunj, Mojhri, M.S Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya, Godia, Y.M.T Ayurveda Medical college, Navi Mumbai and Ashwin Grahmin Ayurveda college, Manchi Hill.

Author is one of Member of Committee for New Syllabus Reform of Agadtantra as per NCISM, New Delhi.

Agadtantra is a branch of Ashtanga Ayurveda, in which the symptoms and treatment of Sthavar Vish, Jangam Vish, Dushi Vish, Gara Vish and Artificial Vish have been described. All these poisons are described in detail, but to become a successful doctor in the 21st century, it is necessary to have practical knowledge along with the knowledge of the sahmitas. Due to extreme changes in the environment, there has been a change in the properties and symptoms of Sthavara vish, Jngama vish, Dushi vish and Gara visha. Apart from this, there are many synthetic poisons available today. Therefore, at this time it is necessary to describe the treatment of poisons in simple language using Ayurvedic and modern medical principles. In this book, poison, properties and actions of poisons, general symptoms arising from consuming poison, diagnosis of poison, detection tests along with Ayurvedic and modern general poison therapy undertakings are described.

Apart from this, according to Ayurveda and modern medical science, the classification of poisons and the special symptoms and treatment of poisons have been described. Apart from this, topics like food poisoning, incompatible diet and nuclear poison etc. have been described according to Ayurvedic and modern opinion.

According new syllabus approved by the NCISM, New Delhi, India, 'the textbook of Agadtantra (Ayurveda and modern toxicology)' contains new added content like Vishakta Aahara Pariksha (Chemical Analytical Test for Adulterant), Dermatological manifestations of Visha (Poisons), Substances of Abuse and Agada Tantra perspectives on cancer anlong the therapeutic part related to toxicology.
