Dr. Shyam Prasad. M. having teaching experience for more than 14 years is currently working as professor and Head, in the department of Kayachikitsa, MVR Ayurveda medical college. Kannur, Kerala. He earned BAMS degree in the year 2003 and MD in the year 2008. He was awarded PhD in 2012 from IPGT and RA, Jamnagar. He published more than eight research papers in international peer reviewed journals. He is currently showing his devote to Ayurvedic science as Reviewer for research journals, Principal Investigator for clinical studies and research, invited resource person for National and international seminars and other related matters
Dr. Anju. P. Ramachandran, currently working as Medical officer. ISM Department, Government of Kerala; is having teaching experience for about 12 years. She also stands as a supervising guide for PhD scholars in Kerala University of Health sciences. She earned BAMS degree in the year 2004 with gold medal and MD in the year 2008 with first rank. She was awarded PhD in 2012 from IPGT and RA, Jamnagar She published more than eight research papers in international peer reviewed journals, and presented many papers in national and international seminars as an invited resource person. She is actively engaged in many programs and research activities scheduled by Indian System of Medicine Department, Government of Kerala.

I am happy to write a foreword to the book entitled "Kayachikitsa" written by Dr. Anju Ramachandran & Dr. Shyam Prasad. Kayachikitsa, a holistic approach of treatment mainly concerned with the disorders of the body and the mind; hence been given the top priority in Ashtanga Ayurveda. This book covers entire syllabus pertaining to Paper 1 of Kayachikitsa. It covers the discussion on basic principles of treatment, various types of therapies to rectify the imbalance caused by dosha, dhatu and mala. Importance of Kayachikitsa is discussed in reference to Agni and tridohsa vaishamya elaborately. It also describes "Rogi-Roga Pariksha vidhi" an important prerequisite to initiate proper treatment. Different types of chikitsa like Rogaanutpattikara chikitsa, Avarana chikitsa, Shadvidhopakrama and leena dosha chikitsa etc. are explained with relevant references from different samhita. Pattern of chikitsa like dwividhopakrama, shadvidhopakrama detailed along with pathyaapathya whichever considered apt for the given disease..
The authors of this book Dr. Anju Ramachandran & Dr. Shyam Prasad, both are very active, energetic and dynamic scholars with deep insight and vision. They possess all qualities of a capable teacher, good researcher and skilled physician. Both of them are known to me for several years since their PhD tenure at IPGT & RA, Gujarat Ayurved University, Jamnagar.
