'Pracyabodha Indian Archaeology and Tradition' that facilitates Dr T. P. Dr. Dinesh Balkrishna Naik has completed his B.A.M.S., M.D., Ph.D. in Rachana Sharir from Pune, Maharashtra. He has an extensive teaching and research experience in Rachana Sharir of more than twenty-two years in various Ayurvedic colleges. In his career, he has taught undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. students. He has been an examiner to many colleges and universities. He has published books 'Ayurvediya Rachana Sharir Vidnyan' and 'Rachana Sharir Vidnyan' from Chaukhambha Publications, New Delhi. He has presented and published several research articles.
Dr Gururaj. D. Jahagirdar completed BAMS in 2006 and MD (Ayu) Rachana Shareera in 2009 from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital Administration from Medvarsity, Hyderabad. Ph.D. in Rachana Shareera from Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, Pune, Maharashtra. He has published many articles in peer reviewed National and International journals, good experience in Specimen Mounting, teaching Model making, arranged workshop to SSLC students to study and understand Anatomy. The Study of human anatomy is very essential for a medical science student. The human anatomy subject is taught to the first year Ayurvedacharya (B.A.M.S.) students. The knowledge of human body has been considered as basic subject in ancient time as well. While describing the qualities of Pranabhisara Vaidya (Vaidya who treats the patient and saves his life), Charakacharya has mentioned the importance of study of human body and developmental anatomy in following lines
तथाविद्या हि केवले शरीरज्ञाने शरीराभिनिर्वृत्तिज्ञाने प्रकृतिविकारज्ञाने च निःसंशयाः ।
Both; Ayurvediya Rachana Sharir' and 'Modern Human Anatomy' have been in cluded in the syllabus of Rachana Sharir. The particular description of human anatomy and physiology in ancient Ayurvedic literatures i.e. Sushrut samhita, Charak Samhita etc. is 'Ayurvediya Rachana Sharir'. The Modern Human Anatomy has been developed in the recent few centuries and describes a thorough scientific knowledge of human body.
Some specific concepts of Sharir are found only in ancient Ayurvedic literatures e.g. marma, srotas, kala etc. It is necessary to understand the basic principles of Ayurveda in its own terms and concepts. This is needed to become a successful Ayurvedic physician. The basic principles and the concepts of Rachana Sharir in ancient Ayurvedic literatures have been described thousands of years back. Unfortunately, they have not been edited in recent centuries. Therefore, it is possible that the students of modern science may experience difficulty while understanding some concepts of Rachana Sharir directly from ancient Ayurvedic literatures. In the present book, these topics are translated and described to this extent that the students will easily understand the concepts.
Modern medical science has derived present anatomy after continuous scientific research and using advanced instruments and technics in this subject. Hence Modern Hu man Anatomy has become an integral subject for the B.A.M.S. students also.
Every concept of Ayurvediya Rachana Sharir cannot be compared with the modern anatomy. It is not rational also. Many times there are differences in opinion among the experts. Hence Ayurvedic and modern topics are arranged separately in the syllabus. Considering these facts this book has been designed to support the students.
