I am pleased to present before you my first book — World Dance and Drama. Though it is my first book a lot of research has been done for the compilation of this book's various topics. The book represents a compilation of some of my research papers presented at various National and International Seminars and in journals, with the topics ranging from Indian Dance and Drama to the South East Asian Dance and Drama.
This book is mainly written for the students of Bachelors and Masters level in an easy to understand language. It will help them to prepare notes and research papers of their own and also for preparing for competitive exams like the RET and NET. I have written this book in both the Hindi and English languages for the students to have an easy understanding of the topics.
The book basically focuses on the aspect of Dance. The book describes the tradition and history of Bharatanatyam along with some of its basics like the Adavus and the Hasta Madras. Then moves on to the various topics of Tala, Folk Dances the importance of Dance as therapy and the traditional method of Riyaz.
Next comes, the topics related to the Sanskit Drama mainly focusing on the aspect of Dance and fine arts in the Dramas of Bhaas and Kalidas. Also the forgotten aspect of Sanskrit Dramas the Purvaranga is described here in detail.
Last but not the least is presented the impact of Ramayana in the South East Asian countries, focusing mainly on the changes found in the story line.
I truly hope that my efforts become successful and this book truly helps the students in their studies and also in their career.
