`The unknown life of Jesus Christ' is an English version rendered by Shri Virchand Gandhi from the French. It throws ample light on the lost years in the life of Jesus Christ who come to India when he was twelve to sixteen years old. It provides detailed description of Jesus's journey, his stay at the Buddhist monestery, the places that he visited and the people he met. It is amazing that Virchand Gandhi could translate the original volume in French by Nicholas Notovitch and published in Chicago into English with efforless ease.
In the translators preface, one finds plethora of information and details which are a goldmine for the researchers. It speaks volumes for Virchand Gandhi's insight as a researcher and his eye for the minutest details. He translated the Frenchman's volumne into English at the age of twenty-eight while he was in the United States. The English version has proved to be a seminal book for researchers and the volume has gone into several editions with different commentators offering their own comments. Virchand Gandhi comes across not only as a competent translator, with his command of French language, but also as a man with profound erudition who holds a very facile pen.
