About the Authors Dr. Mangal has attained first rank in his BAMS and pre P. G. entrance examination. He has been awarded with Bhamashah, Jeevaka, Ayurmedha and Ayuratna awards. He has nine books to his credit and many publications in many national and international journal and magazines. Dr. Mangal has been deputed by Ministry of AYUSH to Ministry of health, Malaysia for propagation of Ayurveda and Panchkarma and has done an extensive and appreciable work. Presently he is working as Assistant Professor and Head I/C in department of Panchkarma, National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur

Dr. Sangeeta Sharma Dr. Sharma is a hard working and intelligent Ayurvedic scholar. She has done her BAMS from Dr.BRKR Govt Ayurvedic College. Hyderabad. She was college topper in BAMS and all India 4th Rank in P.G entrance examination. She completed her post graduation from National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur and presently pursuing PhD from the same institute. She has published a good number of papers in peer reviewed International and National Journals and presented papers in International and National Seminars.

Ayurveda aims in overall health of body, mind and soul. For attaining this health, and to treat the disease, the principles of chikitsa are based on two main aspects as Sanshodhan and Shamana. Panchakarma with its five modalities of treatment stands as chikitsa principles for almost all the diseases. Shamana chikitsa done after Shodhana gives better results.

Vamana Karma is the first among the panchakarma procedures which is mainly done in Kapha related disorders. The literature related to Vamana karma is found in many texts in various references .In this book a small effort is made to compile the material and place it accordingly.

The book is divided into specific topics covering all the aspects related to Vamana Karma in simple and precise manner. This will be helpful material for the U.G and P.G students in the context of Vamana and also as a practical guide .Detailed description of procedure ,for practical purpose is also embedded in the book.

This book also contain references of Vamana, in chikitsa aspect from Charaka and Sushruta. More than 100 titles of different thesis works done all over the country in different diseases has been incorporated as last chapter.

We hope that this book will be useful for the Ayurveda scholars to enrich their knowledge.
