Niwas’ is the basic need of all of us. Every one wants a home built for oneself equipped with all the amenities for a comfortable living. But many people experience difficulties after having a house constructed against the principles of Vastu due to ignorance. Thus, owning a house built in accordance to Vastu principles is desirous for every one. The aim behind this book, “Vastu Niwas”, is that everybody who wants to build or own a house can have the knowledge of at least the essential facts of vastu, so that one may not commit any error in construction. Keeping this in mind, the author, under the guidance of renowned vastu consultant, Dr. K.C. Agrawal, has illustrated a number of orientations, given a plot size.

Bela Godha is a young & promising architect & interior designer. She started her career as a free4ancer from Mumbai and is now based in Bhopal. She has executed a number of interesting interior projects which include hotels, restaurants, net cafes, offices, showrooms, boutiques & number of private residences.
A product of School of Architecture, CEPT, Ahmedabad, her designs have profited from working under a number of leading architects of India-viz-Charles Correa, Anant Raje, Neelkanth Chhaya.

It is with pleasure that lam writing the foreword for Bela Godhci, arched. Of work Vastuniwas” which has adopted the basic Vastu principles in the of each residence.
The vastu shastra philosophy is very ancient in our country, once principles to be followed are very minutely, from the time of purchasing of arc and up to the graham pravesh. Now days it is not possible to follow all these principles in detail.
In today’s time, due to inflation of population and the non-availability of Cr s o major factor. Since there is no choice of selection in the resident’ Vastu niwas provides different designs for different orientations. The desert’s diagonal plots is appreciable.
In these designs, basic location of the utility rooms, entrance gate, posrho —e tube well, bedrooms, pooja room and kitchen etc. are taken into account. As far as possible one must leave open space all round the building. Howeve the constraint of plot sizes in today’s time one may be unable to do so.
Today, the market is flooded with books on vastu but these are difficult to follow. The layperson is interested to adopt practical designs with maximum principles. These designs will be very helpful from their practical point of view, since they offer numerous options in plot sizes and orientations.
In vastu principles the building has been considered as a living organizer e walls, doors generate energies in the house. So, building materials also play an important role. The chapter on building material, here, is very interesting Natural materials are the channels to circulate cosmic and other environmental energies in the house. So, the use of local natural materials has been suggested. I am sure that this book will be very popular in a short time for its practical adaptability.
A lot has been said and a lot has been written about Vastu shastra and its basic principle for construction of buildings. As an architect, these basic principle have always interested me; I look upon them as guidelines for designing any building today the market is flooded with various books on Vastushastra, detailing minutely principles to be followed from the time of purchase of land, to site selection, to its construction and various other things.
However, these principles become difficult to follow for a layperson, many a time because of their impracticality and difficulty in execution.
However, there is a large segment of people who want to adopt the basic principles of Vastu for the construction of their homes. This book mainly caters to this section of people. Here, keeping practicality in mind I have gone in for a number of commonly available plot sizes and each plot has then been designed from all the eight directions- the four cardinal directions and the four diagonal directions.
This has led to the basic classification of this book i.e. 20 designs of five different plot sizes from the cardinal directions and the 20 designs for the same plots repeated from the diagonal directions.
In all these designs, the basic principles of Vastu are followed, guiding one the various spaces of a residence. While researching for this book I came across various guidelines of Vastu and the scientific principles underlying them. For the of the reader, a few of them have been outlined in the chapter How Vastu Improves e Bio-Energy and Cosmic Radiation , thus making it easier for a person to adopt them rather than blindly accepting them. I hope that the given plans with their corresponding: write up highlighting the main Vastu principles will help the user of this book in building a well-planned home.

When traveling in an automobile a good road contributes towards reaching o-e destination. In either case, the main cause of moving towards the destination is the cc & not the road. Yet the road is also important. Vastu is like the road & the automobile s like ones Karma. Even if one has a good car, if the road is not good there will be difficulties in reaching the destination.
