Several international donor agencies have provided monetary and technical support to national and local level NGOs for various welfare programmes for children, women and marginalised social groups. The help provided has created mass awareness among these under- privileged groups, especially in the field of child education.
The women's new role in services remains unattractive to the women population. It has yet to gain recognition and acceptance from the society at large. It can, however, be made more attractive if the nature of work is made to resemble that of a social workers.
Non formal education can be one of the main planks of the strategy for improving the lot of the street or working child. Flexible solutions have to be worked out so that this problem can be tackled without subjecting the families to further economic stress.
