Years back while coming to Rajasthan when the train stopped at Bandikui station, I got curious about this name. Very strange name and what could be its meaning. I asked some local people but to get a satisfactory answer. I surmised that there must have been some maid (bandi) who got a well (kuwa or kur) dug somewhere in this area and the place must have got its name (Bandikui) from that. Nobody knows now about the exact location of the well (kuwa or kui) but the name stuck to the place. While in Rajasthan I read Veer Vinod by Kaviraja Shyamaldas and found the reference of Bandikui and my curiosity was finally put to rest.'
