The Translating Author is a Metallurgical engineer from IIT, Mumbai, and has been in the international business for more than four decades. His involvement in the industry and business gave him a chance to serve as an Honorary Member of the Working Group on Mineral Exploration and Development for the X Plan, Planning Commission of India, participating in the process of policy making for the industry.
He has written a book on Indian economics, surveying the last sixty years of Union Budgets and government economic policies giving detailed statistics from the archives, starting from 1945. The book is titled 'Indian Economic Growth-Myth or Reality' and was released in June 2003 by the then Honourable Vice President of India.
I was introduced into this work by Swami Krishnanadaji in 2014 June. Since then I have had the good luck of reading the Hindu scriptures. I have written two other commentary. The first is on Darshan and the second on Gita. When I picked up the work of Rishi Patanjali I was hesitating, may be even feeling a little in adequate. But as I started to read the Sutras I found they may be intimidating in the beginning but these sutras, 197 in all hide the total essence of Hinduism.
If one takes a little time out from the day to day living and apply the mind to understanding of these sutras one will discover a hidden treasure trove which can change the whole attitude towards the life. From birth to death, this life is like a rose plant full of thorns yielding few roses from time to time. We keep suffering from miseries of all type. Once in a while life does give us some enjoyable moments. We keep mulling in our mind if we can have more of these moments; a question arises in the mind if we could make the joy perpetual We do try to achieve this but as years go by we find that all our efforts have been in vain.
