The Covid-19 pandemic is considered as the most crucial global health calamity of the twenty-first century. It caught humankind like a deer in the headlights. All across the globe, people were unprepared to face this disease head-on. Apart from enduring the impact of the socio-economic and political crisis, we had to deal with the consequences of staying inside our homes without knowing what the future held for us. The severity of this disease forced us all to become homebodies.
This phase has reminded us that we must strive to find pleasure in life's simplicity. It has also taught us the significance of the smallest of things we always took for granted. As humans, we have a tendency of leaving things for tomorrow, and this crisis has made us realise that the best day to do anything is today ...
Your Best Day Is Today! is a compendium of experiences, lessons, and positive takeaways that will help you deal with the dark times in your life. It is a guide to getting in touch with your inner self and finding solutions to the problems that arise with adapting to changes in life. It is also a reminder of how you are not alone and there is always a way to make the best of any situation life throws at you. This book will inspire you and fill your heart with immense love, faith, and joy.
THE URGE TO WRITE HAD NEVER BEEN MORE compelling than the one I felt earlier this year. It came from a place of shared experience and how the difficult times forced us to think and act as one. We collectively fought, and continue to fight, for our survival to emerge as winners from this virus—leaving behind the barriers created by us humans. It left me with an overwhelming emotion of togetherness.
This book had been on my mind ever since I first heard about the novel coronavirus or Covid-19. In my 36-year-long cinema career, I had never taken a day off for the simple reason that when you do what you love and have a deep passion for it, every day seems like a holiday and a day well spent. My friends and family know that I am a restless person and someone who is always on the move—creating opportunities to channel my thoughts and passion. As far as I could remember, even as a school-going child it would upset me when holidays approached. The idea of meeting friends and walking under the clear blue skies on my way to the school liberated me.
I lived in a small, one-room apartment with 14 other family members in Shimla. Although I loved each one of them and enjoyed my time at home, the idea of exploring a different world and experiencing the joys of discovery was exhilarating. Naturally, when the time for self-isolation was upon us, people around me—including myself-could not help but wonder, how am I going to take up this mammoth task of quarantine?
However, to my surprise, I learnt and discovered so many more aspects of myself. Gratitude and the value of life took a whole new perspective in my eyes. Listening to the stories of the common man's struggles and the joys of overcoming them on the news drove me to pen down my thoughts.
This book is an attempt to reach out to everyone and share common experiences a journey of self-discovery, willpower, small triumphs, and the strength of positive thinking. The battle ahead of us is long, but together we will persevere. Our resilience will bring us back on the path of glory. Something tells me that all of us wrote the future during this unprecedented time. A future where the world would be healed ... a future where the coming generations would look up to us as the pioneers of a healed world.
