Baluchari saris come from the land of Bengal. These are the traditional saris in which the story of Ramayana and Mahabharata are told in a woven form. These come in very light silks but are exquisitely woven. The weaves are very rich and the features of the characters are woven to perfection.

This is a cotton Baluchari sari with several themes on it. The body is plain with small floral butis on it. The border is woven in Zari with the theme of Rama and Sita's wedding. The entire theme is woven with much intricacy and style.

The pallav is also grand with several themes woven in different rows. The different themes are Rama breaking the holy bow to win the hand of Sita, Rama killing the golden deer for Sita, and Sita blowing the conch shell. In all this the features of Rama and Sita and also the deer and the court pillars are brought out beautifully.
