Mahasati Savitri and Sati Sukanya, the personification of Indian worshiped as goddesses today. This film, drawn from the annals of Indian mythology gives us their story. Savitri the daughter of King Ashvapati, married Satyavan, an ordinary woodcutter for his manners, his handsomeness and virtues, knowing that he was fated to die within one year. She became the ideal housewife, looking after her aged in laws. And when Yama the god of death, came to take away Satyavan, she doggedly pursued him and with her devot on won a boon from Yama himself.
Sati Sukanya on the other hand married the old and blind Chyavan Rishi, to atone for her act of blinding him by accident. Her devotion and the loving care she showed on him, prompted the gods to restore his sight and make hum young and handsome. The miracles in these stories were brought about by and devotion.
