‘Music’ is a Divine gift from the Almighty. He gives it to us to make this Journey of the soul more soulful, happy and serene. I feel it’s a big responsibility.
Life is a celebration and it’s easy to forget that with our limiting mindless running. But He is benevolent and through His incessant shower of Gifts, He makes us realize every now and then - To Celebrate.
‘Mere Raam’ is one such effort to celebrate the FREEDOM of the SPIRIT The Soul’s only objective is to attain Unison with the Almighty and that is made easy through celebration. Celebration means to be grateful with smiles for everything that we are blessed with!!! And The Process of being grateful requires one to communicate. You’d have to have someone to say THANK YOU to. So there is a two way dialogue between the One who is giving you these gifts ever so lovingly, without judgements and the other ‘YOU’ - the receiver who is to acknowledge, feel grateful and be humbled.
This dialogue can happen only if you know whom to thank, when to thank and then take time out to say THANK YOU and THAT TAKING TIME out. THAT REMEMBRANCE. THAT GRATEFULNESS becomes our PRAYER and if done with 100% present moment consciousness - becomes what spiritual teachers call MEDITATION. One there - your spirit will seem Free, effortless, so full of Everything, questions will cease and you will feel ONE - this is the celebration of the soul!
This album isn’t a deliberate attempt. It wasn’t planned. It’s what I am going through at present, it’s my present journey. I am very fond of Reading, I haven’t shared this very avidly before - so when I am not singing, I am reading.
During one such day, as I was Reading from the SRI GURU GRANTH SAHIB, these verses completely shook me and I felt like sharing the GURU’s words with my loved ones, then when I did a rough recording just for my dear ones a fortnight later I received a concert request from SAMBHAL. It was different. I was asked to sing to a congregation of 500 Sadhus and local audience around 75000 of which 20,000 ware Hindus, 55,000 Muslims. The audience wanted POP from Daler Mehndi but for the Sadhus I had to sing something that they would enjoy and ‘Mere Raam’ had them all chant along, then I was stumped at God’s plans.
How I was led to these verses and thought of composing them for my dear ones and now had the opportunity to present the same to a larger audience. And that it will become an album was not my plan.
Theses verses authored by Bhagat Kaber ji, one by Bhagat Naam Dev Ji and a few excerpts from Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s hymns that seem to be co authored by Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji and Bhagat Kabeer Ji will surely shake your spirits as well, will Make you STOP! They will make you THINK! Then if you are really willing to accept, YOUR Soul will be directed to its Path and the Journey to freedom will initiate.
Here is wishing you all a very Happy Journey…To my partners in this journey of mine..Rab rakha.
