What is Yoga
Yoga is a complete science of life encompassing the entire body mind and spirit which originated in India many centuries ago. The word yoga means to join or yoke together it brings the body and mind together into one harmonious experience. It is the union between a person’s own consciousness and the universal consciousness.

Yoga aims to attain the unity of body mind and spirit through the three main yoga structures exercise breathing and meditation. The exercise of yoga are designed to put pressure on the glandular systems of the body thereby increasing its efficiency and total health. The body is looked upon as the primary instrument that enables us to work and evolve in the world a yoga student therefore treats it with great care and respect. The breathing techniques are based on the concept that breath is the source of life in the body. Yoga students gradually increase their breath control to improve the health and the function of both body and mind. These two systems prepare the body and mind for meditation making it easier for students to achieve a quiet mind and be free from everyday stress. Regular daily practice of all three part of his structure of yoga produces a clear bright mind and a strong capable body.

Yoga & Relaxation
When individuals think of relaxation they usually think of something that they enjoy doing and find sensually stimulating exciting or interesting. In the path and practice of yoga relaxation is understood to be a conscious activity where one slows down the metabolism in order to let go of mental and physical tension. Many leisure activities do not help us let go of mental and physical tension. Instead they may actually be producing more. Yoga understands that tension in the body and mind can bring about emotional behavioral and physical disorders which keep us from realizing our full potential in life and enjoying all that life has to offer. According to this science being consciously still each day of a set period of time is the best way to become more relaxed and develop and improve our concentration and energy.
