“Durga smritaa harasi bheetimashesha jantoh” is a popular passage from the sacred text – Chandi Saptashati. It means – “O! Goddess Durga! You remove fear from the hearts of those who merely remember you”. Some fear or the other torments every human being. “Those who wish to escape from the grip of fear must practise Nama Sankeertana” – says Sri Swamiji, who has been a passionate practitioner and proponent of Bhajan singing. Thousands of devotees have found solace and peace in this path. During the Navaratri of 2000, several compositions in praise of Mother Goddess issued forth from Sri Swamiji’s heart. It was the desire of the devotees to have those compositions in the form of an audio album immediately. However, it was Sri Swamiji’s divine Sankalpa to bless the devotees with this album on the sacred occasion of the consecration of the emerald idol og Goddess Raja Rajeshwari in Vijayawada. Sri Swamiji has named the album as “Shaankari”, which means ‘she who bestows auspiciousness’. We are confident that the devotees will greatly benefit by listening to and singing these wonderful Devi Bhajans. Happy listening!
