Hrishikesh Mukherjee directed Dharmendra in Anupama (with Sharmila Tagore) (1966), Satyakam (with Sharmila Tagore) (1969), Guddi (Dharmendra in a ‘Special appearance’ as himself) (1971), and Chupke Chupke (again with Sharmila) (1975). This collaboration produced two National Awards 1966 ‘Anupama’ Best Hindi film, and 1969 ‘Satyakam’ -Best Hindi Film.
A professor of botany, a man who loves practical jokes, masquerades as a watchman and falls in love. He marries his beloved and conspires to masquerade as a chauffeur to get one up on his wife’s genius jijaji (brother in law). To ensure the conspiracy’s success, a professor of English is forced to masquerade as a professor of botany. Enough! No!! The genius jijaji is a fanatic for ‘shudh’ (pure, unadulterated) Hindi. No English please! And to make it worse the professor of English, (impersonating a professor of botany) falls in love with….This is took much! This is not took much or three much.
