Chowkis come in various sizes; while the smaller ones are used for sitting, the ones with a long stand are exclusively used to place religious artifacts at a respectful height. Both the little and long ones are important as decorative altars during the Shodashopachara Puja or the sixteen stages required in a Puja. This metal is brass. Elephant style the pedestal is chowki with ghungroos and is a longitudinal chowki with Gajah or elephant heads as stand embellishments. The primary brass plate or top is embellished with delicate lotus in the center and Bel Buta motifs all around it. The three legs of the Chowki with elephant heads symbolize that the chowki can be used for placing a regal statue as elephants have always been the symbol of regality.
