Traditionally Urlis were used as a cookware in South India and to prepare herbal potions in ayurvedic treatments, naturopathy centres and spas, but with the upcoming modernization, they are used as an art and interior design ornamentation to decorate your home or office premises by filling it with normal water or scented water and flowers and lighted candles floating on it. A brass urli, as shown here is considered to be a holy material and looks great in any ambience.
This urli is highly inlayed in finely cut reconstituted stones of red, blue and green color. Its legs are carved in a long wave design having stripes of red and green stones and a big king crown in the centre, carved in royal design complements to the luxuriousness of this grand urli. Zoom in to the ethnic carvings at the back forming stylized curves and patterns and decorated accordingly in a relishing inlay. If you look carefully, you will notice the two peacocks at the top with red colored feathers and long curvy tails; as you descend, two elephants can be seen playing with a ball with their legs and trunk upraised in excitement.
The circumference of this urli is covered with a thick strip of green stones decorated with circular patterns at equal distances. The smooth and glossy texture of this urli highlights it being carved by expert sculptors in a very precise and superfine manner.
