This painting of a dancer is based on canons of Guler Painting. Its colour is pure and delicate and the line is firm and unswerving in its flow. The dancer, in an elegant pose is tall and lissome. She is of slender waist and broad hips and covered from head to toe with finery and ornaments. Her eyes are delicately shaped with high, thin eyebrows. The hair is brushed back from the forehead where it is covered by a fine veil. The nose in profile is straight and sharp. The face displays a soft, mildly smiling expression. Her spotted pyjamas are topped by a diaphanous ghagra in soft yellow. The choli and the odhini is in the same colour. The odhini has an elegant design on the ends and the edges are tasselled. Her elaborate jewellery has been detailed by the artist. Her triple stringed 'ghungroos' or tinkle bells complete the picture of the dancer. The sound of these bells must go so well with her graceful movement.
The artists' choice of warm colours such as lemon yellow and lime green argument well with the painting making it a remarkable portrait.
