In the battleground of Kurukshetra, Arjuna was unable to bring himself to fight Bhishma Pitamah. He respected and revered his grandfather, and could not raise his arms against him. Seeing this, Krishna who had vowed not to bear arms picked up a broken wheel and approached Bhishma filled with rage. Astonished by this, Arjuna remembered that it was his duty to fight the war as a Kshatriya. In this oil painting, we see Krishna reaching Bhishma, while Arjuna holds his feet, in order to stop Kanha from breaking his vow.
