White Tara, the highly esteemed figure in Tibetan Buddhism, is also known by the name Sita Tara in other Buddhist traditions. She is revered as a bodhisattva, a symbol of enlightened compassion, and is connected to protection, healing, and long life. She is frequently portrayed sitting in a contemplative pose, never standing, with her left hand clutching a lotus blossom and her right hand outstretched in the varada mudra, a sign of kindness. Her attentive awareness and compassion are symbolized by the seven eyes on her face, palms, and soles of her feet, which enable her to perceive and respond to the suffering of beings in all directions.
