Ganjifa paintings are a contemporary interpretation of the old Ganjifa painting style. Ganjifa is a distorted variant of the Persian term Ganjifeh, which means "playing cards." The Mughals brought this painting technique to India in the form of playing cards, which were typically circular or rectangular in shape.  This Ganjifa painting in Mysore style (Mysore produces a separate kind of Ganjifa) depicts Lord Shiva's Divine household. The painting is set against a natural backdrop of Mount Kailasa, where Lord Shiva is immersed in discussion with Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha stands fanning his adoring parents.

Nandi and Bhringi, Lord Shiva's two most devoted worshippers, are depicted completely immersed in their master's dialogue beneath the throne. To give this apparently simple artwork a regal look, gold and royal colours are used extensively. The fine circles, exquisite use of natural hues, and depiction of the Shiva family within the artwork depict cosmic harmony and familial closeness, making it an ideal fit for a personal worship place.
