This miniscule depicts the famous scene from Ramayana where Ravana abducted Sita to satisfy his ego of power and superiority. The painter has beautifully portrayed the epic scene keeping in mind all the thoughts and briefings that might have occurred at that time. The large black-white-grey colored bird seen on the right, hit by abundant arrows on head, neck and feet is the Jatayu, a divine bird and the king of vultures. Jatayu is Lord Vishnu’s steed and came to help Sita from Ravana, but was injured by him and died after narrating about Sita’s abduction to Sri Rama and Lakshman.

Dark Yellow background influences dual purpose of reflecting the setting sun of consciousness and its vibrant shade beautifully highlights other colors and figures. Lush green trees and small bushes that grow at the bottom clearly indicate that the Ravana’s rath is flying high in the air, so that no one can reach it. Painter has realistically painted Jatayu’s feathers and tail in multilayers and the ten-headed Ravana and Sita are garbed in a bright color palette. Framed in a contrasting red border, painter has very soothingly used his brushes in painting the interplay of colors.
